Greek Peppers With Feta Cheese And Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 kg long sweet green pepper, halved
  • 2 jalapeno peppers, finely chopped
  • 500 g fresh tomatoes, grated
  • 250 g feta cheese, crumbled
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup basil leaves, chopped
  • 200 ml sunflower oil
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

Recipe

  • 1 rinse the peppers well, remove the stems and seeds and place on absorbent kitchen paper to dry.
  • 2 heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the peppers.
  • 3 with a slotted spoon transfer the peppers to a shallow oven dish and add salt to taste.
  • 4 spread the garlic on top, then the tomato and the chopped jalapeno peppers.
  • 5 adjusting salt if necessary but remember not too much as the feta cheese is rather salty.
  • 6 sprinkle on the olive oil and basil, then finally sprinkle the crumbled feta cheese on top.
  • 7 place in a pre heated oven at 180 degrees celsius for approximately 20 minutes, until the liquid has been absorbed and the feta starts to lightly brown.
